Thorpy's thrilling week

Thorpdale had plenty to love last week as both their weekend pennant teams took wins.
Division three: Thorpdale and District defeated Drouin (2) 85/65
It was smiles all round when Thorpdale defeated Drouin by 10 shots on Saturday.
Skip Ben Powell's team led the charge with a challenging 31/7 point game with skip Brendan Jennings' team following up with a sterling effort to add a 19/7 game to the total.
Unfortunately skip Aga Kozlowka's team were unable to match their opponent's talent and graciously allowed them an eight-point advantage with a 12/23 game.
Also on the losing side were skip Ron (Bonnie) Mackie's team, who were outplayed on the day and had a 13/28 match.
Division seven: Thorpdale and District (2) defeated Moe (4) 40/31
Thorpdale's division seven team also had a winning day with a 10-shot win when they hosted Moe. Skip Darron (Pol) Fraser's team had a very good win of 22/12, coming back strongly after trailing 0/9 following the first seven ends. Perhaps that was the motivating factor.
Skip Ross McClure's team were fighting hard and the scores were even all day.
As one member was heard to say "all that work and for this?" when the final tag was turned on the scoreboard – a draw at 19/19. You had to smile.
Midweek
Division five: Thorpdale defeated Morwell (5) 70/18
Thorpdale stormed into their debut Strzelecki North midweek pennant season on a very sunny, warm Tuesday last week with a 70/18 victory over Morwell.
Skip Darron (Pol) Fraser's team recovered from a shaky start to come back to have a 25/14 win, whilst skip Nev (Rev) Smith's team led all the way to a nice 45/4 win.
