Rainfall in the district last month continued slightly under average but for the nine months of the year to date is running almost 25 per cent below average.
In Warragul 89.2 millimetres was registered and at the Bureau of Meteorology's station at Nilma North 95 millimetres was recorded.
The average for September is 100.9 millimetres.
It was the sixth month this year in which below average rain was recorded.
To the end of last month Warragul had received 606 millimetres and Nilma North a slightly lower 594.6 millimetres against an average of 744.9.
The trend was for some consistent falls across the first three weeks in September with the highest daily rainfall being on September 21 with 14.6 millimetres at Nilma North and 11.4 at Warragul.
And after a chilly winter the temperature, as expected in spring, started to edge up although at Nilma North only four days topped 20 degrees.
However, the highest maximum for the month of 24.4 degrees on September 24 was the warmest day since April.
