Nominations open for Baw Baw Australia Day awards

Nominations are now open for next year's Baw Baw Shire Australia Day awards.
There are again four categories that recognise local "heroes" and community organisations that give of their time and expertise to help others.
The categories are citizen and young citizens, community organisations and community events.
The citizen of the year is awarded to someone that has made a significant contribution to the community, demonstrated outstanding leadership within the community or an organisation or excel in either arts, culture, sport, recreation, business, the environment and community service roles.
Young citizen of the year award is open to those aged under 25 that have made a noteworthy contribution or given outstanding community service this year or over a number of years.
Community organisation of the year is awarded to a group that has performed outstanding community service and operates within the shire.
The event of the year acknowledges a not-for-profit organisation that has staged a noteworthy community event within the shire during the past year.
Nominations need to be submitted by 5pm on Friday, November 11 and winners will be announced at the shire's Australia Day awards ceremony in January.
