Clubs score road safety funds
A number of local football and netball clubs are set to benefit from the Transport Accident Commission's (TAC) annual grants program.
A total of $700,000 has been awarded to 261 clubs across Victoria for their work in tackling speeding in their communities, throughout the 2026 season.
Clubs receiving funds across West Gippsland include: Buln Buln Junior Football Club, Cora Lynn Football Netball Club, Drouin Youth Girls Football, Ellinbank Football Netball Club, Ellinbank Junior Football Club, Garfield Junior Football Club, Garfield Netball Club, Hill End and Grove Rovers Football Netball Club, Lang Lang Cannons Junior Football Club, Longwarry Junior Football Club, Neerim District Junior Football Club, Poowong Football Netball Club, Trafalgar Junior Football Club, Yarragon Football Netball Club and Yarragon Junior Football Club.
The TAC Club Rewards Program recognises efforts to encourage safer driving among players, volunteers, members and supporters.
Clubs were asked to champion the message: "Be the Difference. Make the Right Choice. Slow Down on the Road".
The money will go back into the clubs – funding equipment, facilities and community programs.
The program is delivered by the TAC in partnership with AFL Victoria.
Transport Accident Commission ceo Tracey Slatter said road trauma impacted communities across Victoria, which is why local clubs had such an important role to play in helping create a culture where everyone takes responsibility for road safety.
