New team set to lead Neerim community

With a refreshed team, the Neerim District Progress Association is seeking to create strong connections amongst businesses, community groups and individuals in the area.

A business breakfast last month saw 40 locals attend who heard from a panel including dairy farmer David Johnson, business owner and councillor Adam Sheehan and Krystal Barr, Baw Baw Shire's manager economic development and visitor economy.
It was the first step in getting people together and gauging how keen they were to be involved in creating strong local networks and connections.
"We were thrilled with how positive it was," said new NDPA president Christie Bransgrove.
"Our key focus is about creating positive connections in the community among businesses and business leaders and community groups."
The NDPA are working on five key priorities including connecting businesses, connecting community groups, creating a sustainable Neerim Star, continuing ArtsFest, and community advocacy - for projects to improve life across Neerim District.
"We believe these key priorities will strengthen the Neerim District and create opportunities for more people to become involved," Ms Bransgrove said.
"Over the coming months we will establish small working groups around each area and invite community members to become involved."
Helping locals thrive and supporting small businesses such as farmgate, accommodation, retail and hospitality is also an aim of NDPA.
Ms Bransgrove said people didn't need to join the committee to make a valuable contribution.
"Whether you have professional expertise, practical skills or simply a passion for the Neerim District, we'd love to have you involved."
