Join in Children's Week

Craft, stories, drawing and ukulele music will all feature as part of Children’s Week activities in Baw Baw this week.

Children’s Week celebrations have been modified to offer virtual options with West Gippsland Libraries offering special activities.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be “Friendship Craft with Shannyn”, Thursday “Mandala Craft with Larissa and Aimee” and Friday “The Ukulele Minute with Jenny and Jon”.

Each video will be available on both the Baw Baw Shire Council and the West Gippsland Libraries Facebook pages.

Budding young artists can also complete a colouring in designed specially by New York Times bestselling children’s author Adam Wallace.

Finished artwork can then be sent through to the West Gippsland Arts Centre for display in a Children’s Week online gallery.

“It’s fantastic to have the support of West Gippsland Arts Centre and West Gippsland Libraries to help us to celebrate Children’s Week in a different format,” Baw Baw Shire Council CEO Mark Dupe said. “Although we can’t host our usual events, this is a great chance for our youngest residents to be creative and enjoy the activities on offer.”

Children's Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.

The theme for Children's Week 2020 celebrates the right of all children to choose their own friends and safely connect with others.

Printed copies of the colouring in artwork can be collected from council’s customer service centre in Drouin or downloaded from the West Gippsland Arts Centre website.
