Arrest follows pursuit

Police arrested a man accused of a series of thefts and driving a vehicle in an unsafe manner following a pursuit that ended on the outskirts of Warragul last Thursday.
It is alleged the offending began with the theft of a trailer from Kraft Cres, Drouin at 6:30am last Wednesday. The unregistered trailer valued at $1000, was stolen from the driveway.
Police allege the offender attached the trailer to silver Holden Commodore wagon, bearing stolen registration plates, and drove away.
A vehicle of the same description was later allegedly involved in a theft from Park Avenue Laundromat, in Peace Ave, Warragul.
At about 7:15am on Wednesday morning, it is alleged the vehicle drove around the back of the business, with the stolen trailer in tow, and two boxes of cleaned garments were stolen from the delivery door. The stolen items were valued at about $4000.
Hours later, the same car was allegedly involved in a petrol drive-off at the Lloyd St Mobil service station in Moe. It is alleged the male driver left with $800 worth of diesel inside some drums secured to the stolen trailer.
The following day, police said the vehicle was involved in another fuel theft totalling $93 at the Drouin United service station. Around noon that day, motorcycle highway patrol units came saw a vehicle and trailer, matching the description to each incidence of theft, in Warragul.
Police followed and approached the car while stationary in traffic in Queen St at 12:15pm. Police instructed the driver to pull over.
Police allege the driver accelerated towards a second police motorcycle officer, who was required to take evasive action to avoid collision.
It was reported the vehicle travelled some distance on the wrong side of the road, before mounting a footpath towards North Rd, taking out several street signs.
Police utilised the airwing unit to track the Commodore during the pursuit, leading to the driveway of a residential address in Burnett Close, on the western side of Warragul, after the driver allegedly turned off Warragul-Lardner Rd in an attempt to evade police.
The vehicle and trailer were badly damaged and was found bogged at the scene when police arrived.
A 28-year-old Drouin man was arrested at the scene. He was charged with intentionally exposing a police officer to risk by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, driving while suspended, - failing to stop under direction, driving under the influence of a drug, handling stolen goods, and numerous counts of fuel theft.
The man also was also found in breach of existing bail conditions, preventing him from legally driving a vehicle.
The man was remanded in custody.
