January 28 election

Narracan voters will go to the polls in a supplementary state election on January 28.
The supplementary election is being held following the death of Nationals candidate Shaun Gilchrist five days out from last month's November 26 election.
The Victorian Electoral Commission declared the November election "failed" in Narracan.
A writ for the supplementary election was issued yesterday.
Candidate nominations for the election open today and close on January 12 for registered political parties and January 13 for independent candidates.
Nine candidates nominated for the previous state election. Of those, Liberal candidate Wayne Farnham and independent Tony Wolfe have already declared their intentions to stand again.
Anyone who had already voted in the November election, before it was declared failed, will be required to vote again. Previous pre-poll votes were set aside and declared not valid.
Early voting will open on January 16. The election will use the roll created for the November election as it stood when enrolments closed on November 8.
If you have moved out of the Narracan electorate but were enrolled on November 8, you must still vote in this election.
