A WorkSafe workshop in Warragul on Thursday will focus on helping injured workers return to their jobs and improve understanding of workplace mental injury.
A casual breakfast and lunch will bookend the free session for employers and their staff conducted by WorkSafe as part of Health and Safety month.
WorkSafe said in the 2021-22 financial year there were five work-related fatalities in Gippsland and it had accepted 882 injury claims.
Industries that had the most injuries were health care and social assistance, manufacturing and construction.
The most common injuries were to the musculoskeletal system, mental health and tendons, muscles and ligaments with the main causes body stressing, falls, slips and trips and being hit by moving objects.
Thursday's session will feature information on the value of health and safety representatives in the workplace, building a systems-based approach to health and safety, mental injury and how to prevent it and ways to support those injured return to work.
There also will be a question and answer session that will enable those attending to address their own workplace issues.
WorkSafe also will host free webinar sessions from October 24 to 28.
