Ficifolia's new president

The Ficifolia Festival committee's annual general meeting was held recently in the lead-up to the event's 35th year.
Newly elected president Gail Dabinett, former festival committee secretary, said the meeting went well.
She said three new members had joined the committee, and there were a number of fresh ideas on the table.
Projects including a free 'Kids Corner' at this year's event were discussed, as well as plans to upgrade the festival's website.
Purchasing more structural items that can be used each year, such as gazebos, also is on the committee's agenda. Ms Dabinett said using the Drouin Hawks Football and Netball club as a venue again, instead of Civic Park, was discussed at the meeting.
Six people attended the AGM and five sent apologies. Ms Dabinett said a number of community groups and organisations have already committed to supporting the festival.
Brian Dabinett was elected as secretary, after serving on the general committee in previous years.
The next meeting will be held on October 11 at 7pm at 9 Bank Place, Drouin.
Any inquiries about the festival or meeting can be sent to secretary@ficifoliafestival.org.au.
