Farnham votes for new leader

Re-endorsed Liberal candidate for Narracan Wayne Farnham had a say in the party's new leadership on Thursday, despite not being an elected member of parliament.

Mr Farnham, and Pakenham candidate David Farrelly, voted in the party room meeting that elected John Pesutto to lead the Liberals over Brad Battin.
At the time of the vote Mr Farrelly was narrowly ahead in the Pakenham vote but after a recheck was defeated by Labor's Emma Vulin.
Despite the vote in Narracan being delayed until next year, after a "failed election" was declared, Mr Farnham said it was former party leader Matthew Guy's discretion to allow who could vote.
"Historically Narracan is a Liberal seat. It was Matthew Guy's call and he felt I should contribute," he said.
Mr Farnham said he would continue "to do what I was doing" in advocating for Narracan while waiting for a rescheduled election date.
