Information and resources about support services for first responders will be highlighted at an inaugural Health and Wellbeing Expo to be held at the Warragul RSL in Albert St this Sunday (October 2).
The event will run from 11am to 3.30pm and is open to current and former members and their families from first responder and emergency services organisations including police, Country Fire Authority, State Emergency Service, doctors, nurses and paramedics.
The expo builds on the Warragul RSL sub-branch's defence service veterans and first responders fitness and mateship group that meets each Saturday morning at Voyage Fitness Centre in Warragul.
RSL president Ben Vahland said there would be more than 20 stall holders attending the expo to provide information and resources available for past and present first responders and families, such as mental health, wellbeing, social connections, finances and more.
There also will be two important keynote speakers on the day.
At 12.30pm Tim Beck from not-for-profit organisation Phoenix Australia will talk about understanding, preventing and recovering from the impact of traumatic experiences.
He will be followed at 2pm by Tony Pearce from Emergency Services Foundation.
