Efficiency is the reasoning behind a decision for Baw Baw Shire to hold its council meeting online rather than in-person this week.
Tomorrow's meeting is scheduled to be the penultimate meeting of this councillor group before the election. However, instead of meeting in the council chamber at West Gippsland Arts Centre, the 1pm meeting will be conducted electronically.
The livestream will be available via council's website.
Baw Baw Shire chief executive officer Mark Dupe said only one item was on the agenda - the annual financial report and performance statement - and "it was deemed more efficient to host this meeting online."
"This was communicated to councillors recently with no opposition received," Mr Dupe said.
Mr Dupe, under council's governance rules, is able to make the decision to hold a council meeting electronically.
To notify the public of the change, it was advertised on council's website and in today's Gazette, he said.
Mr Dupe said the council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 23 - set to feature the presentation of the annual report - would be held at the arts centre.
Following the election, the new council will hold its statutory meeting on Wednesday, November 20.
