Call for help on Rural Aid project

Charity group Rural Aid that helps farmers repair and clean up their properties after unexpected natural events has issued a call for volunteers to step up quickly to spend a week working at Orbost.
Rural Aid's farm coordinator Grant Miskimmin urged more people to sign to work from July 30 to August 5 at Orbost where there were devastating floods last year.
He said it was extremely rewarding work helping farmers that still have debris spread across their paddocks and with fences still needing to be rebuilt.
The lack at this stage of sufficient volunteers if threatening the likelihood of the week-long project going ahead.
"We are asking people to donate their time to help the farmers and no farming experience is needed," Mr Miskimmin said.
Help is needed in areas ranging from the camp kitchen to tying barbed wire and picking up debris.
Volunteers usually stay in the own caravans and will be accommodated at the Orbost showgrounds.
Rural Aids provides all volunteers with food during the week.
People are urged to register to take part at https://www.ruralaid.org.au/volunteers/
Additional information about Rural Aid is available at its website www.ruralaid.org.au or by calling 1300 327 624.
