Almost 150 trees were planted at the Bhaddeka Vihari Meditation Centre in Ripplebrook on July 9 to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The project was made possible by a $12,500 grant from the Federal Government, through the Planting Trees for The Queen's Jubilee Program.
During the planting, the Monks from the Centre blessed the Queen by chanting Paritta.
A total of 146 trees were planted, and another 200 are scheduled to go into the ground by the end of the month.
Baw Baw Shire Deputy Mayor Ann-Marie McCabe attended the event and planted the first tree before revealing the commemorative plaque.
More than 150 people showed up to watch the planting.
Cr McCabe said it was a "pleasure" to attend the ceremony.
"All trees were sourced from Dreamtime Nursery, a local business who advised the best type of tree to source and maintain based on the conditions of the landscape."'
"Well done to BVMC for their outstanding efforts over the weekend," she added.
