Recognising talent and growth at Wakefield Lawyers

Wakefield Lawyers is proud to announce the promotions of four members of its legal team, recognising their professional achievements, dedication and contributions to the firm.
Sean Linehan and Steve Novak have been promoted to Senior Lawyer, while Emily O'Dea and Rebecca Wooster have been promoted to Associate Lawyer.
Sean joined Wakefield Lawyers in 2025, bringing extensive experience in the Victorian court system and private practice. Working across Family Law, Criminal Law and Litigation, he values the personal connections that come with practising in a regional community and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in his clients' lives.
Steve joined the firm in 2026, with a wealth of experience across a broad range of legal practice areas. Working primarily in Property and Commercial Law, as well as Wills and Estates, he places great importance on building trusted relationships with clients and easing the burden of complex legal matters, helping them to make informed decisions.
Emily practices primarily in estate planning, deceased estates and property law. She is currently undertaking a Master of Laws in Wills and Estates and Estate Planning. She is passionate about helping clients understand their legal options and navigate challenging circumstances with confidence.
Rebecca practices primarily in estate planning and deceased estates. Known for her calm, empathetic and meticulous approach, she is committed to simplifying complex legal matters and supporting families through estate planning and administration with care and understanding.
The promotions followed a formal application and interview process, recognising each lawyer's achievements and readiness to take the next step in their career.
The Partners of the firm, Kylie Boote, Tessa Hoogerbrugge and Scott MacDonald are very excited to be implementing career pathways in the firm.
