Pat Fraser-Aurisch makes it 10 at Neerim

Pat Fraser-Aurisch has claimed her 10th singles club championship with Neerim District Bowling Club.

Pat won the women’s final against Chris Hogan, 25/12.

Neil Adams claimed the men’s singles club championship with a 25/10 win over Ray Watts.

Karren Sheers also had success, taking out the Strzelecki North women’s over 60s title.

The club’s women’s singles final between Pat Fraser-Aurisch and Chris Hogan was held in temperatures hovering around 30 degrees.  However, a slight breeze made it more comfortable.

Pat won the first six ends, picking up five ones and a three, and it looked like it would be a quick game.

Chris got on the board with a couple of singles, but Pat claimed another three to lead 11/2.

Chris won the next three ends to cut the gap to five.  She went on to win every second end and cut the margin to four by the 19th.

However, this marked the end of Chris’ run.  Despite her bowling extremely well, Pat always had the answers.  She won the next five ends to win 25/12 and accept her 10th women’s club championship.

The club’s men’s singles final was played between Neil Adams and Ray Watts.

Ray started well and led 6/2 before Neil levelled the scores at six-all on the sixth end.

Nearby lighting forced the duo from the green and a brief shower delayed their return.

Once back on the green, conditions were ideal, and Neil was straight back on track.  Ray won consecutive ends to cut the margin, with Neil leading 11/8 after the 10th end.

Neil picked up to win seven in a row, including three twos, to lead 21/8.

Ray picked up a two, but Neil picked up the necessary four over the next three ends to become men’s club champion.

Neerim’s Karren Sheers defeated Traralgon’s Pat Trewin in the Strzelecki North women’s over 60s singles final, 21/13.

It was initially a tight contest with the scores eight-all after 13 ends. 

Karren won eight of the last 12 ends for an eight-shot win.
