Gippsland League clubs reported a sense of optimism for the year ahead at the season launch held at Traralgon Vineyard last night.
Club coaches and representatives, both netball and football, outlined their prospects as part of a panel interview.
On the netball court, Drouin A grade coach Mel Ahearn reported the Hawks have had a good preparation, with some returning players coming in to bolster their defence.
Warragul are looking forward to getting back together on the court following the past interrupted seasons. The Gulls will be playing netball at Burke Street again next year.
In football, Warragul coach Dean Alger said former AFL players Jed Lamb and Nick Graham would add much needed experience and leadership to their young squad.
Drouin captain Rhys Salter said the Hawks should also field a young side, with contest work a big focus over the pre-season.
Guest speakers were Shelley O'Donnell OAM who played 84 matches of netball for Australia, winning multiple gold medals, and former Carlton AFL cult figure Dennis Armfield.
Both reflected on their sporting careers at the elite level and gave their thoughts on the current game.
