Drouin’s Janet Parker has been recognised by Netball Victoria for her outstanding work in contributing and coaching support for the Drouin and District All Abilities Netball.
Receiving a certificate last week during a visit from Melbourne Vixens players, Janet’s journey in seeing everyone play the game she loves has been a long one.
She fell in love with the game when she was 14 years old after her friends invited her to join a team in Kilsyth. In her first year she played goal defence and was runner up best and fairest.
She began coaching at the age of 18, before stepping away from netball for some time. That was until she drove past a netball court with her eldest daughter Renee who asked about the sport.
“That’s how our love of netball came together, she played, I coached and umpired,” she said.
