Future tennis pros had the chance to pick up the racket for the first time when the Yarragon Tennis Club hit things off for the season.

Kids as young as four attended the “come and try” night which gave them a chance to practise their skills before the summer competitions.

Some kids will come back for the Hot Shots program held every Friday, and some will train for the upcoming Baw Baw Tennis Competition that’s set to begin on October 9, pending restrictions.

Tennis coordinator Ange Bailey said it was nice to see so many young kids involved.

“They just want to do something; they want to get out and run around.

“That’s where the Hot Shots program is good because they do actually cater to this little age, but a lot of it is picking the balls up, rolling them, it’s so funny to watch,” Bailey said.

Some of the older kids have been training throughout winter, and will take on players from Warragul, Drouin, Trafalgar, and more in the Baw Baw Tennis Association.
