More than 250 people attended the recent Baw Baw Employment Expo in Warragul, with job seekers given the chance to meet with a number of local employers and organisations.
The free event was held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre and brought together businesses with current vacancies and people looking for work or considering a career change.
Baw Baw Shire Cr Brendan Kingwill opened the event and acknowledged Workforce Australia and the Jobs and Skills Centre for their support.
Cr Kingwill said the expo was a great opportunity for potential employees and employers to meet face-to-face. He encouraged job seekers to keep an open mind about the opportunities available.
"Take the blinkers off, keep an open mind and dream big," Cr Kingwill said. "Sometimes one conversation, one introduction or one opportunity can change the direction of your life."
More than 50 employers from across the region attended, giving job seekers the chance to discuss career pathways and opportunities across a wide range of industries.
The event concluded with a sausage sizzle and coffee vouchers available for attendees.
The expo was designed to help connect local employers with people seeking work, while also encouraging job seekers to consider roles and industries they may not previously have thought about.
