Drouin handed Leongatha only its second loss of the season in A grade on Saturday to keep in touch with the top five.
A grade: Drouin 45 defeated Leongatha 41.
After a disappointing day on the courts, Drouin spectators were thrilled the A grade team came to play.
Stacie Gardiner and Karina Proctor shot accurately - as usual, with Deb Thomas and Ella Henderson looking like they had played together all season. The Hawks demonstrated fast passes and great ball movement in attack.
When the Hawks need it, they have depth in the grades to move players up. Despite scorelines in other grades, it was Drouin’s juniors - and the wiser seniors - who really showed what the Hawks are capable of.
Defensively, the Hawks were good but did struggle to move the ball down a court a few times thanks to the relentless pressure from the Leongatha attackers.
Awards: Kym Diston, Macy Newcombe and Stacie Gardiner.
