Division 2:
Hallora v Drouin
Hallora has cemented their spot in the top four, ousting Drouin in a high-scoring affair. Losing the toss and fielding, Hallora had to deal with an onslaught from youngster Jack McConville, as the classy right-handed slashed a career-best 88 in quick-time to give Drouin the edge with a score of 6-187. Aidan Phillips (2-27) and Steve Fox (2-27) were the pick of the bowlers, and in reply Phillips (64) took his chance with Division 1 having a bye, destroying the Hawks new ball attack with a sensational knock. Nick Caddy (2-39) tried to keep the rampant Kangas at bay, but it was not enough as Hallora- through the likes of Lane Ward (39*0) and Lachie Pratt (32) romped home with six wickets and six overs to spare.
Ellinbank v Iona
Iona have continued their winning ways with a tight victory over Ellinbank. Bowling first, only Bryce Joyce (36) put up a fight against the Swamp Tigers early, as Travis Kitchin (2-3), Liam Lenders (2-7) and Will Selleck (2-11) reduced the home side to 8-89. Iona- perhaps a victim of using ten bowlers- let their position slip slightly late, as Liam Finnegan (25) pushed Ellinbank's total to a defendable 127 with some late-order hitting.
In reply, Iona was barely troubled early- as Liam (34*) and Kieran Lenders (25) put their side in a winning position. A late fightback from Jack Pandolfo (3-30) gave Ellinbank a chance, however it was too little too late as Iona won by three wickets.
Garfield-Tynong v Longwarry
Longwarry has all but cemented a double chance, after annihilating Garfield-Tynong on the weekend. Bowling first, Longwarry were barely troubled; only Matt Dodman (29) showed any danger for the Crows, as Cole Cook (2-7), Yashan Samarasinghe (2-11) and Dom Pullen (2-23) restricted the Titans to 9-103 off their 40 overs.
In reply, Longwarry were looking for an early beer- as Dylan (54*) and Jonah Serong (44) wiped the score off the board in timely fashion, claiming a ten-wicket victory in just 16 overs.
Jindivick v Western Park
Western Park has cemented third spot on the ladder with a narrow victory over Jindivick. Batting first, an early collapse spurred by Flynn Pallot (2-25) and Andrew Pyle (2-37) had the Warriors on the back foot at Regional College. Kurtis Harper (65) batted through the innings in a promising knock, whilst Angus Geals (42) and Dale Fawcett (41) batted the ball to all parts as Western Park made an imposing 9-180. Jordan Smith (4-26) did the job at the death for Jindivick, giving them a chance- one, they would almost take.
In reply, a ridiculous spell from Ben Allsop (5-21) put Jindivick in the turf, the youngster reducing the Jumping Jacks to 6-61. The "home side" revived quickly, however, and with devastating effect- as Matt Ward (48) and Mick Tumino (43) got them within touching distance of victory. With only 14 runs to get, and three wickets still in hand, Jindivick looked destined to claim victory- however, a final gasp from inspirational skipper Jack Barnes (1-34) was enough, as he brought his side victory by just ten runs.
