A field of 80 runners lined up for the recent Mount Worth Trail Run.
It was a welcome return for a large field, including many making their debuts in trail running, that was fully tested by the course through some of the region's most attractive natural bushland and features.
Events were run over five, 15 and 21 kilometres.
Ian Cornthwaite blitzed the field clocking just under 2 hours, 10 minutes in the men's 21 kilometre event leading in Glenn Crawford who was just 20 seconds behind.
The women's 21-kilometre winner Kylie Murray, an experienced trail runner, was a further 20 seconds behind.
In the 150-kiloemtre section Hunter Davis won in a creditable 1 hour, 28 minutes with the women's event providing Hsu Tao with her first trail run win completing the course in just over two hours.
The Tanners - Laz, Angus and Matt - filled the first three placings in the men's five kilometre event with times of 30, 34 and 35 minutes respectively with the women's section taken out by Cassie McDonald in a time just under 35 minutes.
Mt Worth Friends president Merrin Butler was thrilled with the positive feedback from the runners especially those running the trails for the first time.
We were delighted to host such a happy crowd after a couple of dreadful years due to cancellations and other COVID restrictions.
Funds raised from the event will go towards development plans for the park.
