The Baw Baw Shire Warragul Depot in Normanby St has been closed temporarily for deep cleaning after a worker was deemed a potential secondary contact to a positive COVID case.
Due to quick action this morning, Baw Baw Shire Council believe risk to the community is “exceedingly low”.
Data currently shows no positive COVID cases identified in Baw Baw Shire.
Baw Baw Shire CEO Mark Dupe said the team member’s partner was a potential primary close contact due to working in a healthcare setting. Both are fully vaccinated and neither have tested positive at this stage.
Mr Dupe said the team member had some contact with five other staff at the Warragul Depot.
“The team member has done the right thing and notified their manager as soon as being informed of their potential secondary contact status and taken immediate steps to get tested and to self-isolate,” he said.
“Those contacts are three steps removed from a potential exposure, meaning risks are exceedingly low,” Mr Dupe added. “However, the safety of our team members and the wider community remains of utmost importance.”
He said other team members were not required to get tested or isolate at this stage, but council was supporting those who wished to do so.
