Sylvie Endersby has taken home the gold medal from the Gippsland Region Country Cross Carnival held recently in Berwick.
Sylvie was one of four girls from Warragul Little Athletics to qualify for the Victorian State Cross Country Championships on the day.
Sylvie showed her running skills over the 1.5km course to claim the win in the under nine girls race.
Zaria Dalton was also on the podium, claiming bronze in the under 12 girls race over the 2km course.
They were joined by Elodie Tehennepe (under nine girls) and Xanthe Dalton (under 10 girls), who also finished near the top to qualify for the state championships in early August.
The cross country event was held at Edwin Flack Reserve in Berwick.
The four girls have competed at school cross country events, but this was their first outing at the Little Athletics Victoria Regional Cross Country event.
It follows two years of COVID cancellations.
The girls will return to training at Moe on Sundays as part of a cross country season run by the Moe Little Athletics Club.
These events, run in August, bring together athletes from Warragul, Moe, Traralgon and Sale clubs.
