Warragul Croquet Club recently hosted a day of play for carers and their families.
Latrobe Community Health Services organised the day as respite from their daily routine.
Volunteer Marian visited the croquet club along with Maree and her career Doreen and husband and wife John and Liz. The group was welcomed by five club members before being instructed on how to play croquet and use the mallet.
"It was a very successful day with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves," treasurer Mary Cornwall said. "There were many shouts of achievement and laughter echoing around the courts."
All participants were amazed at how quickly they picked up the understanding of the game and, without realising, the amount of walking they did on the day.
Liz said she wouldn't normally be able to walk that much, but she did it without even thinking about it. It's something she wants to continue doing with her husband John, and they aim to return soon.
Doreen and her mother Maree also want to come back and play, seeing both mental and physical benefits of playing the game.
"It was an absolute delight to have them enjoy themselves on the day, and look forward to seeing them again on the fields," Ms Cornwall added. "Thankyou to Marian, Doreen, Maree, John and Liz for an enjoyable afternoon."
