Rawson police spent several hours recovering three 23-year-old men on Sunday after a rafting incident went wrong.
Police said the group of five men arrived at a Coopers Creek campsite with inflatable rafts and canoes at about 2pm, along with life jackets and helmets. However, the Thompson River was 1.5 metres above its normal level due to overflow from the Thompson Dam.
Shortly after entering the water two of the men, who were in a canoe, capsized and swam to the river bank. Two of the remaining men managed to remain in an inflatable raft, while another was separated from the raft and all three were washed downstream.
A Rawson police member responded quickly while SES members and police airwing wwere deployed.
Two of the missing men were located at Brunton's Bridge in Walhalla, while the third man was located via phone location co-ordinates.
No injuries were sustained by any of the men or those involved in the recovery efforts.
