Narracan candidates: Austin Cram

Providing voters with a candidate who cares about animals, people and the planet is why Austin Cram is standing for the Animal Justice Party.
As a town planner, Mr Cram has had experience working at local government level. The Poowong resident also stood for the AJP as an upper house candidate at the November election.
He said it was important for voters to have a choice at every election.
"For the first time in November, we ran a candidate in every seat, including Narracan, and we want to keep giving voters a kinder alternative to the other offerings for people who care about animals, people and the planet. Mr Cram said towns in Narracan were growing at an alarming rate and the planning system was inadequate to not only provide proper infrastructure, but also protect native flora and fauna from removal and displacement.
"The lack of infrastructure also includes things like healthcare too. We need to ensure the new hospital is built.
"We also need to recognise the dire situation our climate is in and the impact it will have on people, industry and animals. We need more ambitious climate targets.
"We're a farming community and farmers rely on the land and the climate, so we also need to secure proper support for farmers to transition to climate resilient production so they don't end up as after-thoughts.
Mr Cram said a lot of people also were concerned about welfare in the greyhound racing industry and an inquiry into the industry would be beneficial.
of good.
With the ALP already forming government, Mr Cram said there was still a lot a member of parliament could achieve if they were constructive.
"You can build relationships and connect local people with the right bureaucrats and ministers, secure budget commitments and use your time and resources for the good of Narracan. It's fun to criticise but it doesn't get things done.
Mr Cram said the core values of the Animal Justice Party were kindness, equality, rationality and non-violence.
"Those will be at the forefront of my mind if I'm given the honour to represent Narracan in parliament. Gippsland people are sick of political games and I represent a different style of politics.
Mr Cram said his focus was providing a real representative of the people who will stop West Gippsland being taken for granted.
