Lang Lang produced an upset to start grand final day, ending Buln Buln's undefeated season with a thrilling two goal victory to claim back-to-back 13 and under premierships.

The Lyrebirds made the stronger start in a highly contested opening, with both defensive ends creating turnovers and making scoring difficult. Buln Buln led 7-5 at quarter time and continued to hold the advantage through another defensive second term, taking a 14-11 lead into half-time.

But Lang Lang emerged from the break with renewed pressure and quickly began to turn the contest.

The Tigers produced an 8-5 third quarter to erase the deficit and level the scores at 19-19 with one quarter remaining, setting up a thrilling finish.
Goal shooter Ella McGrath became a major factor in the comeback, shooting 14 of Lang Lang's 16 goals after half-time.
With neither side willing to give an inch, Lang Lang's defensive pressure again proved crucial in the final term. The Tigers edged ahead and held their nerve as Buln Buln continued to challenge, winning the quarter 8-6 to secure the premiership by just two goals, 27-25.
The Lyrebirds' first loss of 2026 came on the season's biggest stage, while Lang Lang reversed two home-and-away defeats to Buln Buln when it mattered most to secure consecutive 13 and under premierships.
