Home invasion in Warragul

A young family was asleep when five men forced their way into a Warragul home yesterday morning before stealing a car.

Baw Baw CIU detectives are investigating the home invasion in Hampton Drv, Warragul just after 5am on Wednesday.

A male occupant at the house was assaulted during the aggravated burglary and sustained facial injuries needing hospital treatment.

Detectives said the five men were in a stolen white Range Rover when they attended at the home and used physical force to enter the back of the two-storey home.

The family, including two young children, was asleep upstairs and woke when they heard the intruders.

Detectives said the man confronted the offenders and was assaulted.

The offenders stole a set of keys and left in the family’s black Hyundai Santa Fe.

Police said it appeared to be a random attack.

Investigators are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the white Range Rover on Tuesday night or the black Hyundai early Saturday morning.
