Organisers of the Bendigo Community Bank's annual charity golf day visited West Gippsland Hospital recently to donate $18,500 raised at this year's event.
The money was part of a record $35,000 raised for the hospital and Warragul and District Specialist School.
West Gippsland Hospital's share will go toward new stretcher trolleys for the emergency department.
West Gippsland Healthcare Group board chair Jo-Anne Moorfoot said the money raised at this year's event had exceeded expectations. Last year, the event raised $30,000 for the two charity partners.
"We really appreciated the community's support, particularly when a lot of people are doing it tough," she said.
"We don't get discretionary funds for equipment so we rely on the community and they come through for us every year. It is greatly appreciated by the staff and board."
WGHG chief executive officer Dan Weeks congratulated organisers on the success and growth of the Charity Golf Day, which will mark its 10th anniversary next year.
"Ten years ago, the committee began with a few hardworking people doing a huge amount of work and it has matured into a large, well-supported group and a quality event," he said.
"We are grateful to have their ongoing financial support and look forward to celebrating a successful ten years with them in 2025."
This charity golf day is organised through a partnership between Bendigo Community Bank branches of Drouin, Neerim and Trafalgar and the Warragul Country Club, which hosts the event.
The 10-year anniversary Charity Golf Day is scheduled for March 14, 2025.
