The 75 years of service by the people of Darnum, Ellinbank, Gainsbourgh and Cloverlea through the Darnum Ellinbank Fire Brigade was celebrated recently.
A lunch held at the fire station brought together many current and former members and families to catch up and reminisce over past incidents.
The brigade’s history has taken it from a small single axle tanker based in a donated garage at Ellinbank and using canvas beaters to fight fires, to its current sophisticated four wheel drive tanker which now includes breathing apparatus.
The brigade also now owns a ultralight tanker.
Brigade secretary Marion Burn said the brigade was keen to hear from anyone who had any memorabilia such as awards, photos or other history.
