Body located in Thomson

The body of a man swept away in flood waters in Thomson yesterday has been located.

Police have been told the deceased driver and another man were in two vehicles when the first man, driving a Nissan Patrol, attempted to cross a river crossing near Sullivan Track, north of Mt Baw Baw, about 1.30pm yesterday.

It appears the driver, a 66-year-old Mirboo North man, got into difficulty as he tried to cross the swollen river when his car dropped in what appeared a deep section of the crossing.

Sadly, the 4WD was swept away and inundated with water.

Search and Rescue Squad divers located the driver inside his submerged vehicle this morning.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
