Another chapter of the Warragul saleyards site was written last week with demolition of the agents' offices and cafe along the Alfred St frontage.
Baw Baw Shire confirmed a building permit was issued by a private building surveyor allowing seven buildings on the site to be demolished.
Sale of the site was put out for expression of interest last year and has been marked as under contract since August.
The Gazette understands the prospective purchaser is undertaking due diligence but it is hoped the contract will be unconditional in the next few months.
Council confirmed a pre-application meeting was held with the potential owner/developers late last year. Council has not received any further communication to consider.
