St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School has been named a finalist in the Community Leadership School of the Year category of the ResourceSmart Education Awards for leading a multi-partner community project at Brooker Park.
The project has seen 0.55 hectares revegetated and improved by students and the community through revegetation and education activities, the quality and connectivity of the threatened species habitat in a section of Hazel Creek running through Brooker Park.
The awards are part of the ResourceSmart Schools program.
Winners of the awards will be announced next month.
Year 9 student Lauren Brewer was actively involved with planting trees and also created the video for the ResourceSmart application.
“To know that you have helped the environment while having fun and making new friends along the way is great.
We will all be able to go back there in 20 years and say look what we did, we helped make a difference,” she said.
