Local dancer and year eight St Paul’s Anglican Grammar school student Heidi Freeman recently competed at the four day prestigious Alana Haines Australasian Awards held in Wellington, New Zealand.
Heidi was among 156 competitors in the junior section and was excited to progress from the preliminary, quarter and semi-finals through to being a finalist.
Heidi was one of 11 students who made the finals and was awarded a scholarship to attend the Queensland Ballet summer school in January 2016.
Heidi also has been invited to attend the Australian Ballet School finals week to be held in August.
She is also one of 12 competitors chosen to compete in the Victorian Cecchetti Silver Medal finals this month, and has been one of two competitors to be selected to represent Victoria in the Cecchetti National Silver Medal awards to be held in Brisbane in July.
Heidi is grateful to be part of the St Paul’s Elite Sports Performers Program which assists and supports students with the training comitments required to achieve these goals and professional standards required for a career in dance.
