Women's health event highlights growing demand forMenopause care in Gippsland
More than 80 women from across the Baw Baw region gathered in Warragul recently for a free Women's Health Information Night, highlighting the growing demand for accessible education and support around perimenopause and menopause.
The event was hosted by Refined Skin & Aesthetics and registered nurse Sarah Lorkin, who has more than 19 years' experience in women's health and is passionate about improving access to evidence-based menopause care for women in regional communities.
The evening featured presentations from a team of local health professionals covering the physical, emotional and hormonal changes women can experience during perimenopause and menopause, along with practical strategies and treatment options available to help manage symptoms.
"To see more than 80 women come together to learn, ask questions and support one another was incredibly rewarding," Ms Lorkin said.
"For too long, many women have been told that symptoms such as hot flushes, anxiety, brain fog, poor sleep, low mood and fatigue are simply something they have to live with. The reality is there are evidence-based treatment options available, and women deserve to know what those options are."
The overwhelming response to the event highlighted the growing need for specialised women's health services in the region, with many attendees expressing their appreciation for having access to reliable information and support close to home.
Dedicated perimenopause and menopause consultations are now available at Refined Skin & Aesthetics in Warragul. Consultations are provided by the clinic's registered nurses in collaboration with their women's health practitioners, offering comprehensive assessments, education and personalised treatment plans to support women through every stage of perimenopause and menopause.
Ms Lorkin said the aim is to provide local women with accessible, evidence-based care without the need to travel long distances.
"Every woman deserves to feel heard, understood and supported. We want women to know they don't have to struggle through these symptoms alone, and that high-quality menopause care is now available right here in Warragul."
Following the success of the evening, Refined Skin & Aesthetics hopes to continue offering community education events to empower women with knowledge and improve awareness of women's health throughout the Gippsland region.
