Gulls going for glory in grand final

The future of the Warragul Football Club will be on display when they meet an old rival in this Saturday's under 18s grand final at Morwell Recreation Reserve.
It will be the third time in as many years the Gulls have made it all the way to the decider, having claimed the 2022 flag before missing out on their back to back opportunity last season.
Standing in their way is a familiar foe - Maffra.
The Eagles have been Warragul's opponent in both of their previous grand finals, showing off their own bright talent while their senior side also looks to build in years to come.
For those keeping track at home, that leaves the score at one apiece and means Saturday will be the all-important tiebreaker.
So who will come out on top?
On paper, the Gulls will enter as healthy favourites. They finished the home and away season atop the ladder on 14 wins and two losses, with a sizeable percentage of more than 330.
They were number one for offensive output while also conceding the fewest points, at times posting wildly large scores against their opposition.
It's no wonder a number of their players featured regularly at senior level and even at Gippsland Power.
Players like Lucas Carter, Heath Jinks and Riley Senini were pivotal to the Gulls' top flight side at times, not to mention that Keenan Boi finished as the competition's equal leading goalkicker.
Their opponents are in a similar boat, however.
Maffra finished the year in fourth position with a record of 12 wins and four losses. For much of the season they looked a likely top three finalist and premiership challenger until a final round loss to the Gulls saw them slip out of double chance territory.
Like the Gulls many of their players had numerous opportunities to play at higher levels and did it with aplomb.
The Eagles also boast one of the competition's best in Elliot Stables, who was recognised with a league best and fairest award last week.
Warragul and Maffra have met twice this year with both bouts going the Gulls' way.
Their first encounter was a true battle at Maffra's home ground, the Gulls made to withstand a final quarter comeback to survive as five-point winners.
The second, just weeks ago at Western Park, required just as much fight. Warragul were forced to bounce back from a slow start, holding the Eagles to just one goal past quarter time while putting on seven of their own to register a 21-point victory.
It means while Warragul comes into the day undefeated against their opposition there'll be plenty to be wary of.
A few young Gulls in the side would remember well last year's grand final. Warragul went into that contest as the favourite too, only to be brought undone at the final hurdle.
Regardless of what happens the future looks bright and healthy for both teams.
Until then, however, the future is now.
Time to see who can grab that flag.
Warragul fans headed to the match can stick around to see the club's A grade netball side go for glory in their own grand final, while for Drouin fans the C grade netball decider looms large.
