Gulls clawed by Lions

Warragul put up a spirited performance but were ultimately outclassed by Moe.

The Gulls came into the match with confidence given their stirring win in last week's Western Derby, but the Lions were always going to present a much different challenge.
And while the scoreboard ultimately had the visitors going down 7.9 (51) to 19.12 (126), there were some good signs, especially from their talented younger brigade.
The return of teenage gun Jasper Alger provided a three-goal return up forward - impressive against an elite defence from a player who captained the Gulls' under 16s team last season.
Tom Stern showed plenty around the ball, as did Gippsland Power regular Patrick Ireland.
