Bulldogs too good in under 16s

Bunyip overcame an early challenge from Nilma-Darnum to kick away to claim the Ellinbank district under 16 premiership.

Archie Whelan snapped on goal to begin proceedings for the Bulldogs, but the Bombers challenged early to put through consecutive goals and take the lead.

From there the Bulldogs were able to kick away, comfortably winning 13-8 (86) to 2-2 (14).

Repeat soccer attempts from Lachlan Huston eventually made it through before Koby McLeish took advantage of a downfield free kick.

Any early belief for the Bombers would soon fade, as the Bulldogs put through the final 12 goals of the contest.
After getting back the lead in the closing minute, the Bulldogs worked to a handy buffer throughout the second term.
Jack Alexander ran into the open goal before Whelan rolled on through while roving the pack to extend the lead.
Lenny Clark put in an early contender for goal of the day, converting while running towards the bar 6.5 pocket.
Forward pressure saw Clark add another as the Bulldogs increased the lead to 26-points at half time.
Clancy Cunningham began the third term with a running goal, the Bulldogs putting through their ninth less than two minutes later.
Cunningham was back in the action again, scoring a goal while running towards the pocket.
Jack Alexander, who was awarded the best on ground medal, Noah McCaughey, Aiden Kane, Sam Blackley, Harry Sheehan and Coby Hoult helped the Bulldogs kick away.
Nicholas Meggetto, Cameron Bailey, James Midgley, McLeish, Charlie Huston and Jackson Marx were doing their best to stem the tide for the Bombers.
Whelan found himself running into the open goal to close out the term, the lead quickly becoming an unassailable 59-points.
Jack McComb found his lower leg in a goal-line scramble before a long shot from Aiden Kane was shepherd through to close out a 72-point victory.
