Baw Baw Food Relief raised an impressive $2213.20 during its recent Winter Warmth Appeal.
The appeal saw Baw Baw Food Relief (BBFR) volunteers deck out the Palmerston St kiosk in Warragul once a month in May, June and July for "donation day", encouraging community members to contribute donations of canned goods and non-perishable items. The Warragul Lions Club provided a sausage sizzle at each donation day.
The final donation day saw volunteers dressed up in a variety of fun costumes.
To wrap up the Winter Warmth Appeal, BBFR worked with Harcourts Warragul, collecting more than 1200 cans that were donated through Harcourts' annual can drive appeal.
Equating to about 570kgs of food, the cans were donated over a six week period and will be now used to help BBFR "feed the need".
In total, BBFR received 1243kgs of non-perishable food donations through the Winter Warmth Appeal and raised $2,213.20.
Baw Baw Food Relief thanked everyone involved in the appeal.
