Nominate your local heroes

Nominations for Baw Baw Shire's 2027 Australia Day Awards are now open, with community members encouraged to nominate local heroes who have made outstanding contributions to the community.

Nominations can be made across four categories including Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Organisation of the Year
and Community Event of the Year.

Mayor Kate Wilson reinforced the importance of recognising those who made a difference.
"The Australia Day Awards are a time for us to recognise those in our community who dedicate their time to helping others, who go that extra step and truly make a difference to life in Baw Baw," Cr Wilson said.

"If a community member, community organisation or event has left a positive impact on you, show your appreciation by nominating them for an Australia Day Award."

Nominations can be made online via a short submission form. Alternatively, a print form can be completed at the customer service centres in Drouin and Warragul.

When submitting a nomination, community members must provide responses to various questions relating to the recipient including qualities that make them stand out, details of their contributions and the positive impact they've made to the local community.

Nominations close at noon on October 30.
Each nomination will be considered and assessed against eligibility criteria by a panel including the mayor, councillors and council officers who will select the most outstanding nominee in each category.

Award winners will be announced at the Australia Day Awards ceremony on January 20, 2027.
