Disability support worker Alyssa Weaver of Tynong North was announced late last week as the Greens candidate for Narracan.
Ms Weaver, who has also authored children's books, said in a statement on the party's website that as well as personally feeling cost of living pressures as she builds her first home she had seen a lack of investment in healthcare and transport and how little has been done to help people living in the electorate.
She claimed the Greens were the only party committed to protecting Victoria's natural environment such as lakes, forests and snowfields that attract visitors and were enjoyed by locals.
The Greens commitment to that revolved around ending the dependence on coal and gas and would provide a job-for-job guarantee for coal workers, Ms Weaver said.
She said the party's platform was to ease pressures on families need to help build a better future for all, make housing affordable, have integrity in government, oppose racism and white supremacy and protect animals.
