National Flag Day saw the Australian flag return to flying high at Drouin Secondary College
A ceremony on the day celebrated the arrival of the school’s new flagpoles.
Recognising the importance of the Australian flag, parents and friends spearheaded the purchase and installation of new flagpoles.
It has been some time since the college has had flagpoles, making the ceremony important to the school community.
Learning group representatives, school captains, students and staff took part in the ceremony which included the Australian National Anthem led by the choir, story of the Australian flag and speeches from the school captains, assistant principal Deb Gentle and Member for McMillan Russell Broadbent.
Students heard the symbolism of the Australian flag lies within its power to unite people.
To celebrate the new flagpoles, a student competition will see the design of a new Drouin Secondary College flag.
