Walk and ride day to school
Darnum Primary School's annual walk and ride to school day saw more than 90 per cent of students participate.
Bikes, scooters, skateboards, roller blades and all things in between provided transport to Darnum Primary School on Friday, October 24.
The annual walk and ride to school day saw more than 90 per cent of students participate in addition to parents, staff and community members.
A number of staff even walked the 10km journey from Yarragon to Darnum along the back roads, meeting up with students at Darnum Musical Village along the way.
Principal Chris Eeles said most students either walked or rode to school. Those who lived a distance from the school, drove to a closer location before walking the remaining journey.
Mr Eeles said the school encouraged children, where possible, to walk and ride to school for health and fitness, environmental and congestion benefits. Healthy snacks of fruit were available upon arrival at school.
