Stags stun Titans in division three

Neerim District (110) def. Garfield-Tynong (75)

Neerim District broke through for their first victory of the 2025/26 season with an upset win over Garfield-Tynong on Saturday, the Stags led by a stunning spell from Matthew Kelliher.
The Stags worked hard against some testing bowling, with Grant Pearson (1/9 from 8), Ryan Smith (1/17), and Glen Johnston (2/17) proving nigh on impossible to score off.
Jamie Gleeson (26) did his best to prevent chaos early in the innings, whilst Drew Ainge (21) added valuable runs late in the piece to help Neerim District make it 110 before being dismissed in the final over of the innings.
Garfield-Tynong's XI boasts a host of experienced heads, but against Kelliher (6/11 from 8), they found themselves all at sea.
Kelliher – adopting a disciplined stump-to-stump approach – breached the defences of the Titans' top order with stark regularity, and his early wickets sent waves of panic through Garfield-Tynong.
Smith (20*) did what he could to resist, but with Will Tomlin (2/8 off 6) and Marc Tymkin (1/7 from 7) supporting Kelliher the Titans found themselves dismissed for just 75 in the 39th over.

Ellinbank (6/201) def. Western Park (3/199)
A stupendous third-wicket partnership between Chris Pallot and Jake Webb helped Ellinbank claim an astonishing four-wicket win over Western Park on the weekend, as the Eagles chased down a total that looked entirely out of their reach at the innings break.
The Warriors had posted an intimidating 3/199 against an undermanned Ellinbank outfit and were quietly confident of victory.
Matt Roberts' magnificent maiden century was the catalyst for Western Park's run-scoring ways, with the talented youngster taking calculated risks in an aggressive opening to his innings.
He then took advantage of a spread field to intelligently work the ball into gaps, sneaking quick singles and twos as he neared three figures.
Despite his wonderful knock however, Pallot (who anchored the run-chase via a composed 68), and Webb (who constantly looked on the verge of being dismissed early in his innings only to wallop a host of boundaries on his way to 78) counterattacked in exceptional fashion.
Josh Kelly (3/38) and Dale Fawcett (2/28) triggered a collapse of 4/5 that kept Eagles supporters on the edge of their seat, but Jaipal Singh (9*) and Harmanpreet Singh (8*) held their nerve to snatch victory in the 40th over.

Jindivick (1/86) def. Iona (82)
Jindivick's strong start to the summer continued on Saturday, as they thoroughly outclassed Iona on their way to a nine-wicket win.
Only two Ionan batters – Luke Gilbert (18) and Riley Miller (11) – were able to make it to double figures as the Jumping Jacks attack consistently challenged the defensive techniques of the Swamp Tigers.
Will Stevenage (3/17) tore through the top order, whilst Shane Hoskins (3/16), Tharindu Wathudura (2/19), and Thomas Stevenage (2/8) maintained the early momentum as Iona were dismissed for just 82 in the 32nd over.
In the face of a sub-par total, Jindivick then wasted little time in racing to victory with James Stevenage (43*, including seven fours and a six) and Ranga Bandara (35*) atoning for the early dismissal of Cameron Coster – who was removed without scoring by Riley Miller.
The duo's 84-run second-wicket stand came at better-than-a-run-a-ball as the Jumping Jacks reached 1/86 in just the 11th over.
Catani (2/108) def. Trafalgar (106)
Catani has stamped their authority over division three to date and the weekend's results proved no different, as the Cats claimed a crushing eight-wicket win over Trafalgar.
Their depth with ball-in-hand was on full display as Jackson Pawsey (3/9 from 8) was at his parsimonious best with the new Kookaburra and Nathaniel Wade (2/23), Caleb Allport (2/22), and Jarrod Williams (2/15) provided superb support.
Whilst the Ships were able to occupy the crease effectively, they were never able to break the shackles and crawled to 106 before being dismissed in the 40th over.
Bradley McDonald (58* from just 73 balls) found scoring endlessly easier, and he was able to quickly accelerate scoring and ensured there would no early wobbles in Catani's pursuit.
Jackson Bennett (19) also enjoyed his time in the middle as the Cats reached 2/108 in just the 27th over.

Longwarry (3/189) def. Warragul (8/188)
Eastern Park has long been a happy hunting ground for those keen on aggressive intent, and Longwarry's Heath Darcy notched a memorably hard-hitting knock to continue this tradition as the Crows captured a seven-wicket win over Warragul.
With a challenging target of 189 confronting them at the start of their innings, Longwarry began cautiously as Zac Wright (28 from 89) and Isaac Carney (28) found the likes of Kieran Morton (0/10 from 8) and Jatinder Pal Singh (0/34 off 7) difficult to handle early in the piece.
However, just as the Gulls began to feel confident that they had adequately restricted Longwarry's scoring, Darcy began to accelerate.
Especially targeting the spin offerings of Amandeep Singh, the talented ball-striker quickly set about launching a match-winning salvo, with a host of fours and sixes flowing from his bat.
Scott Kelly (35* from just 24) joined in on the fun, and the pair's unbeaten 89-run fourth-wicket stand saw the Crows claim victory in the 37th over.
Earlier in the day, Priyank Saini (36 from 54), Tristan Fraser (33), and Jatinder Pal Singh (21) starred with the bat as Warragul posted 8/188.
