Warragul Little Athletics members took their talents on the road over the weekend when they competed at the 2023/24 Gippsland Country Region (GCR) Relay Carnival in Cranbourne.
Competing primarily in relay and medley events against other local clubs like Moe, Pakenham and Traralgon, team Warragul brought home two gold medals, five silvers and five bronzes.
For gold the events they won were the under 16 mixed 4x100m and 4x200m, with the team of Alexandra Aubrey, Justin Fernando, Zaria Dalton and Luke Rollinson achieving automatic qualification for the State Relay Championships. They won silver in the under 10 girls 4x200m and Swedish medley as well as the under 15 boys 4x100m, 4x200m and Swedish medley.
Bronze medals were won in the under 10 girls 4x100m, the under 11 girls 4x100m and Swedish medley, the under 11 boys 4x100m and the under 12 girls Swedish medley.
Some club members also got the chance to team up with runners from other clubs for Team GCR events, where they were part of teams that won four goals medals, two silvers and two bronzes.
The club congratulated all of its athletes that took part in the competition, paying particular tribute to competitors who stepped outside their comfort zones and challenged themselves.
