Drouin face Trafalgar as bowls season begins

Drouin Bowls Club had a good start to its season on Saturday with two wins out of three games.

Division one: Drouin 2/90 lost to Trafalgar 16/123.

John Bickerdike, David Tayles, Les Firth and Samantha Atkinson (skip) lost to Ian Miles’ team 19/29.  David McIlfatrick, Jan Aubrey, John Leighton and Mark Atkinson (skip) lost to Tim Fraser’s team 21/29.  Graeme Aubrey, Steve Barr, Maureen Leighton and Sheryl Atkinson (skip) lost to Paul Dawson’s team 16/40.  Denise Hamilton, Arthur Moore, Dale Hendrick and Toby Wallace (skip) defeated Darren Kane’s team 34/25.

Division two: Drouin (2) 14/100 defeated Neerim District 4/90.

Don Mowat, Richard Joyner, Clive Newman and Brian Thorpe (skip) defeated Neil Adams’ team 32/28.  Elaine Thorpe, Lyn Jeffrey, Terry McFadzean and Necip Akarsu (skip) lost to Trevor Kuhnell’s team 22/26.  Merv Appleyard, Rudy Kerkvliet, Andy Kidd and Bruce Andrews (skip) defeated Peter Brooks’ team 27/12.  John Bulmer, Mary Firth, Neil Bullen and Phil Jarred (skip) lost to Peter Throup’s team 19/24.

Division four: Drouin (3) 18/117 defeated Newborough (4) 0/65.

Ian Haughton, Wayne Walsh, Tom Lawler and Lloyd Smith (skip) defeated Maurice Ludlow’s team 25/11.  Max Hine, Gerry Wakefield, Irene Dawson and Margaret Owens (skip) defeated Charlie Cadby’s team 43/11.  Peter McGrath, Dini Hone, Andre De Waele and Peter Hone (skip) defeated Albert Van Stekelenburg’s team 27/22.  Bev Walsh, Jim Purvis, Mary Andrews and Gwen Price (skip) defeated Wally Smith’s team 22/21.
