Smash and grab targets motorbikes
2 min read

A Warragul business was disappointed after seven motorbikes were stolen in a targeted smash and grab on Wednesday morning.
Police believe at least five people were involved in the Queen St burglary at 1.30am.
They said a white Haval SUV pulled up to Christensen's Motorcycles, before a passenger jumped out to attach a snatch strap to the front doors.
When attempts to use the vehicle and strap to force open the doors were unsuccessful, police said the vehicle was turned around and reversed into a bollard. After the bollard was knocked out of the ground, the vehicle further reversed into the shop, causing significant damage.
Police said CCTV showed a silver utility towing a trailer arrive and people from both vehicles work together to remove nine motorbikes from the store before loading them into the trailer.
The silver utility had a tray and was towing a dual-axle cage trailer.
They left with seven motorbikes, both Husqvarna and Yamaha models, valued at more than $65,000.
Two Husqvarna motorbikes were removed from the shop but left behind.
Several helmets signed by professional riders were also reported stolen.
Police said it appeared to be a targeted burglary with at least five people involved. They wore hoodies, face coverings and gloves.
Part owner of Christensen's Motorcycles Trav Cooper said focusing on cleaning up and fixing the shop front kept the team "on track" in the aftermath of the incident.
"We got there about 2am and just started cleaning up," Mr Cooper said.
"We had a lot of customers and friends come and help us out. Just getting it done sort of kept us on our feet."
With security measures including window bars and bollards already in place, Mr Cooper said he hadn't experienced a raid of this extent before,
He said he planned to implement further security measures to prevent future incidents.
Sales assistant Maddie Burns said some of the stolen bikes had already been sold to customers.
"It was a pretty sad day letting people know that they can no longer pick their bike up," she said.
